In 2022 and 2023 Daniel made multiple visits to Antarctica as Chief Scientist of an expedition vessel. During this time he was responsible for leading all research activities at sea, including but not limited to: ROV and BRUVS deployments, submersible surveys, and oceanographic monitoring.

As well as giving daily lectures and research briefings, Daniel worked with media team to communicate the ongoing scientific work resulting in the research being featured in Forbes, National Geographic, LiveScience and others.

Daniel collaborated and coordinated with various scientific partners including Scott Polar Research Institute (Cambridge University), NOAA, Cornell University, Scripps Institute of Oceanography and many others.
